Professional Experience
Ms. Vesta Pao is an experienced Clinical Psychologist with over two decades of expertise in working with children and adolescents. She has extensive experience dealing with developmental problems and special educational needs (SEN) children, including those with ADHD, ASD, and SLD. Her professional journey includes roles as a Clinical Psychologist at Heep Hong Society and Po Leung Kuk.
Assessment Approach
Ms. Pao adopts a holistic and integrative approach to child assessments, understanding that each child’s difficulties can arise from a complex mix of neurophysiological, psychological, and environmental factors. Her assessment process includes the use of standardized neuropsychological tests; thorough direct observations to understand the child’s behavior; engaging with parents to collect comprehensive background information; and integrating data from teachers, caregivers, and other professionals to form a complete picture of the child’s needs.
Lecturing and Training Experience
In addition to her clinical work, Ms. Pao is actively involved in educational and professional training. She has delivered lectures and training sessions on topics such as child and adolescent psychological development, SEN, mental health, parenting skills, and crisis intervention. Her audiences include professionals, parents and caregivers, and the general public. She has taught at numerous Hong Kong educational institutions and NGOs, such as HKU Cedars, The Education University of Hong Kong I-WELL, Hong Kong Baptist University, and St. James’ Settlement, among others.
